One review wrote that there was no scale info. Well there is, it's located in the info section under South Dakota on one side and North Dakota on the other (see photo). It also has blow ups of Bismark, Grand Forks and Fargo on the North Dakota side which also shows west Minnesota and up into the Canadian Winnipeg area. The South Dakota city blow ups are the Black Hills region, Rapid City, Sioux Falls and Pierre. The south side also shows western Minnesota and Iowa along with northern Nebraska. Its nice to be able to write on this map for routes etc. The map legend also indicates the following: free limited-access highway, Toll limited-access highway, other multi-lane highway, other through highway, other road, unpaved road, scenic route, Lewis & Clark Trail highway, time zone, interstate, U.S. Highway, state highway, county highway and the mileage scale. It also shows areas in color code that are National Grasslands, National forest, or city park, National parks, State Parks, State facilities, or other National Park service facilities and much more.
Only three stars because I expected a way more detailed map. I.e.you have the whole State South Dakota on two pages size A4. South Dakota is more than half the size of whole Germany. In Germany you get a road Atlas of 100 pages and more. I did not expect that at all because the population is much smaller in SD but I expected the map a little bit more detailed. There should be also a scale at the map or at least it should be mentioned in the description of the map. The scale of Rand McNally South Dakota map is 1:1,7 million or 1cm = 17km (1 inch = 26 miles) compared to a detailed german map 1:0,2 million or 1cm = 2km. With such an information you know much better what you will get in the end.Rand McNally maps getting always very good ratings. That's why I hope the map size is good enough for the big size of the state?!The quality of the map looks really good to me!
Folds easily and well protected by lamination. Seems detailed enough for my purposes. Bought several for different states. Don’t like being too dependent on GPS and this allows route review with fellow travelers.
GPS slugging or freezing up isn’t a problem with this low tech map tucked into my backpack. The journey is more fun when you aren’t wasting time lost.
Great, sturdy, easy to read.... my only issue is why lump the two states? Maybe some city maps on the other side for each different state. Given the size of these states, I would find it unlikely that people would travel both and require the map for both in one document. Just because they have the same "last name" doesn't mean they should be sold together.
These folding maps are the best. They don't tear down the fold. You can mark on them and then wipe it off. I really like them.
These are awesome maps. They are very nice and fold up nice. I love it that you can draw on them to show your route. Got them for my husband for trips on the Harley. Very, very cool. they are very compact and just right for Motorcycles.
I was very happy with all of the maps of this type that we bought when we went on vacation. Easy to read, and even easier to refold. I will definitely buy more of these any time we go on trips to new states. Highly recommended!
