I got this because I had just moved to Colorado and wanted a guide and some help on places to explore. This guide is concise, yet very informative for both the traveler and the resident. Many of my co-workers enjoyed the book and even helped the native Coloradans find new places.
I have used many Moon travel books in the past and generally found them useful, especially for off-the-beaten path attractions and venues. However, this one has a lot of omissions -- I kept looking up towns/hikes/restaurants etc., only to find no reference to them here. The Lonely Planet "Colorado" book almost always had the same attractions listed.
Always love these books. Way more here than hotels, shopping and restaurants. Appreciate the great information on outdoor hiking activities. Have trusted Moon books for years and never been disappointed. Thanks

Great book for sightseeing around CO!
Not as useful as the previous edition.
Colorado's vast, rugged Rocky Mountains are so chock full of ski resorts, hot springs, dude ranches, trails, rivers, and campgrounds that it helps to have a guide in your hands. This 9th edition of Moon Colorado breaks it down for travelers -- both for newbies to the state and also for Denverites looking for new ideas for the weekends. Also, even though we've all got GPS in our cars now, remember, there are plenty of mountain roads and canyons with no cell service at all in Colorado, so carrying an updated guidebook and road atlas is essential. Moon Colorado is easy to navigate, provides specific strategies for how to attack the state, and has some 35 maps to complement and confirm whatever your phone is telling you. This book also has a helpful overview and background of the state, plus regional chapters with all the standard details (recreation, sites, hotels, restaurants, etc.). (Full disclosure: I am the author of Moon Colorado Camping, a separate title in the outdoor division of Avalon Travel, so Terri is my colleague, but purely from the perspective of a standard traveler to Colorado, I can say that this is a very fine and useful book).
I'm planning a trip to Telluride next year using this book and hope to extend my visit and explore a bit. I have used other Moon books and always like the mix of activities they have. I love finding easier hikes that I can squeeze in to my trip without needing to buy a separate trail guide or rely on brochures. The writing is good and not boring and the maps are very easy to read.
