The concept of this book is perfect. The photographs are gorgeous and definitely communicate Leggett's style. However, the publisher blew it by skimping on page size, which runs the actual photo images into the gutter [the space at the inside edge of each page where the pages are bound together] so it is not possible to fully enjoy the book as intended. Further, the binding is so tight it would break were there an attempt to open the book it fully. Leggett's ideas are wonderful; Saylor's images are terrific. But by skimping on page size to (I suppose) keep production cost down, the book in my estimation does not deliver. I'm returning it. I hope the publisher recognizes the error and issues additional printings in a larger, more suitable format, which I will happily purchase.
I should have paid attention to another reviewer's comment that this book is so poorly bound/produced that the photosrun into the "gutter" and can't be viewed. Total waste of money.
City Farmhouse Style is a breath of fresh air in interior design publication. The beautiful homes featured are original and inspiring, to say the least.Kim does a fabulous job informing on so many things "farmhouse" from an historical perspective, while showing modern and reclaimed uses of this timeless style.At the same time, the quality of the book will make it a favorite to share on your coffee table. Fabulous photography, lots of interesting descriptions, and nice thick pages in your hand. Highly recommended for the design enthusiast!
Love this book! Beautifully written and pictures. Not so happy with binding! Doesn't open fully so you cannot see the whole picture on either side!!!!!
The book was a little disappointing. Most of the pictures I had already seen in magazines.

Daughter got this for Christmas. A wonderful gift.
I absolutely love this book! I have many decor books and rarely "read" them, finding most not very interesting (dry) or insightful, and usually just study the pictures for design ideas. But this one! This one I devoured in a day and read it front to back! It has no less than 50 post-it notes where I've tabbed not only pictures but Kim's helpful design information, along with her list of places to seek out your own treasures. Her writing is knowledgeable and fun, making this book the best I've read on farmhouse style as well as many other design books. The pictures are amazing though and absolute frosting on the cake, but again, it's Kim's friendly style that embraces you and makes you want to run out and get your first farm table if you don't already have one, and helps lead you in making your house a home you love to come home to. Not only a must read for anyone interested in this warm and relaxed style but for anyone interested in decor.
